There is no substitute for the value and tradition of real bronze statues.
Cold Cast Bronze is marketed to unsuspecting shoppers making them believe they are buying a real bronze statue but really they have purchased an overpriced plastic statue; typically imported. A bronze powder is mixed in with the resin that deceptively gives it the weight, feel and appearance of a real bronze statue. These cheap statues are rapidly produced by machines overseas and yield high profit margins for their owners.
The creation of a bronze statue is extensive process producing some of the most beautiful sculptures in the world, which can be dated back to Roman times.
To begin The “Lost Wax Process” an artist sculpts a clay statue, it’s then molded and an identical statue is reproduced in wax. Layers of ceramic and sand create a shell around the wax; the shell is then heated so the wax melts out. Bronze ingots are melted at 2,000 degrees in a crucible and poured into the ceramic shell. When the bronze cools the shell is broken off revealing the bronze casting. The casting is media blasted, deburred, welded, sanded, smoothed/textured, and hand detailed before being completed with a fired on patina.
